Odds are, you are, too. And the preferred platform for most electronics devices nowadays is the Android OS. The Android platform is hailed as one of the world’s most popular platform, existing side by side with its Apple iPhone OS counterpart. Unlike Apple however, the Android OS gained popularity by encouraging software developers worldwide to learn how to make android apps and gave the community all the support that it needs in order to get the ball rolling.

Android approached the electronics consumer market with a very refreshing angle right from the beginning: distribute the source code to the public at no cost whatsoever and watch the community grow in size. And they were right the first time around: with over 125 million iPhone and Android users all over the world, around 95% of these people purchase apps at one point or another, making the prospect of learning how to make an android app that much more attractive.

With 60,000 Android phones sold daily and Android’s free licensing of its source codes, a very significant number of the smartphone users in the world are switching to Android mainly because of its larger database of apps compared to the iOS, deemed to be its closest competitor. This is further bolstered by the Android Developer Challenge, a periodic competition to create great Android apps and is sponsored by Android’s original developer and distributor, Google.

Theoretically, even if an application sells at a meager $0.99 cents apiece and (with the developer only getting 70 cents per download after cuts and commissions), the developer would still end up with $24,500 in a single day. More realistically though, the average download per application would have to be around 300+ times in a day, and the software price certainly costs more than a dollar; prices for apps on both platforms can range from something totally free to as much as $ 999. If this isn’t enough impetus to learn how to make an android app, then it’s hard to imagine what is.

However, knowing how to make an android app and knowing how to profit from it could mean entirely different things. While it’s great that you can learn how to make apps for personal use and consumption, you really need to work on knowing the market and knowing how to advertise your app to those who would likely buy it.

For the more technically oriented, brushing up on your programming language and keeping your skills up to date will prove most helpful. Source code books and computer programming books can become outdated very fast; sometimes you will need to resort to learning up to date programming codes from online instructions.

Downloading the Android SDK or Software Developer Kit is a great way to start your Android app creation. Gone are the days that you need to learn everything from the ground up. Android’s developer, Google, has taken care of that problem. With the SDK, implementing a good idea is just as important in learning how to make android apps that have great market appeal. Moreover, there are app inventor software made by other developers to help you in creating that best selling app.

Android has made a huge wave in how software developers approach app creation with its publicly available source codes. You don’t necessarily have to create the software yourself from the ground up, and learning how to make android apps is more about having a very good grasp on the public’s demand and how you can meet those demands with your app.
